What You Don’t Know…

Posted on November 4, 2022January 29, 2023 By Lars No Comments on What You Don’t Know…
Spread the word

There is an old saying that what you don’t know can’t hurt you or can’t kill you.

I guess it will remain a saying but by digging deeper into its meaning, that saying is kind of illogical.

If you don’t know that a knife can hurt you when it cuts your skin, then you can play with it by slicing some parts of your body or stab your legs, stomach or even stabbing your chest. But it doesn’t mean you will not be killed.

On the contrary if you knew that a knife is dangerous and deadly would you still want to play with it? Maybe you would but with extra precaution or at least you know about knives and how to handle it properly.

So, does it mean that all things that you know can kill you? Perhaps yes but if it is used with a purpose of evil action, it certainly can kill. Sometimes by accident.

Not knowing means ignorance but not becoming stupid. If you don’t know that a fire can burn your house, then you can play with it. Just like innocent kids playing with fire.

How did humans acquire knowledge? I guess it all starts by not knowing a thing. Just like from nothing to everything. Often knowledge is acquired from a problem and started with a question. Sometimes it is acquired by accidental discoveries and exploration.

The universe is a puzzle or I should say rather it is a massive problem that humans are still solving up to this present time and moving forward. Problems were already there before humans existed. As man evolves they start to solve problems like solving pieces of a puzzle searching for meanings to find answers to countless questions.

If a person doesn’t know about a problem, he will not be worrying about it. He may not worry about why he is hungry because he doesn’t know that lack of food is the problem. But it doesn’t mean that he will not die due to starvation.

Ignorance of the law excuse no one

In the same manner, if you do not know about the law you will not be excused from the consequence of whatever violation you have committed without intention.

If you do not know that jaywalking is a violation, then you can cross any streets at any time you want. But it doesn’t mean that you will not be apprehended by authorities. Worst is that you will be hit by cars and get killed.

Sometimes we are safe from being accountable for a certain scenario by becoming uninformed. Often it is being used as an excuse for a responsibility.

However, we are part of every group that abides with rules and dogmas so we must always be aware of what is happening around us. Just like becoming a responsible human being.
