How heavy is your Smartphone?
Perhaps some of you will answer and correct me that Smartphone’s are light weight and not that heavy.
Have you owned a Nokia 2G phone before? I guess you know exactly what I mean. The Nokia 3210 back then was not that heavy but it would really cause serious damage if you tried to smash it in a bad guy’s face.
My Huawei Y6 only weighs 150g and the Samsung G7 weighs 174g. Your Smartphone might be heavier or lighter than mine but it doesn’t matter.
But why am I asking you this? You might think that your phone is not that heavy and so you don’t even feel the weight of it. But the answer would be not the heaviness of our phone. We can tell how heavy it is depending on how long we hold it.
Try to hold your phone with either of your hands for ten second. Nothing happens. Try to hold it a little longer, say thirty seconds and still nothing happens. Try to hold it for an hour. How do you feel? Your arm will ache. How about holding it for twenty four hours? Your arm will get numb and you will feel the pain because it gets heavier.
The weight of the Smartphone has not changed but the longer you hold it makes it heavier.
In life we all experience stress and worries. Some of you might have more of it while others only have a few things that make them worry. How does worrying and stress weigh in? It is nothing more like the Smartphone we are holding every day or anything that we hold that has mass.
If we think of them for a while, nothing seems to happen. If we think of it a little longer then it will begin to hurt our feelings, like being emotionally disturbed. But if we think of it almost all the time then it will freeze our life incapable of doing anything. Not only that it will affect us emotionally but it will also affect us mentally. We can feel the burden and it is hurting us. We can feel it all over our body. We are being burdened with all those things that are attached to us.
Sometimes even if we already feel the pain we just don’t lose the grip. We keep on holding the weight for a long period of time until it becomes heavier. We don’t want to let go even if we suffer more.
But then we realize that we can put it down. Yes, we can always put down those things that give weight. You always have a choice to put it down.
Don’t let that weight hurt you, try to lower it down a little bit if you can’t put it down.
Remember that life is not always about holding on. We should learn to let go and move on.
