It’s frustrating to know that some people would commit suicide because of failing to get a job.
These days a lot of people are struggling to have a stable job to provide for the financial needs of their families and looking for a reliable source of income is pretty hard.
The number of unemployed rapidly increases when the pandemic struck the whole world. Unemployment becomes one major problem.
Most people are having a hard time securing a job. Some companies are looking at least for college-level applicants and even prefer applicants with work experience.
Applicants will submit resumes and application letters to different companies. For some unfortunate reasons the employer will reject the application resulting in failure to get a job.
Some companies will not just hire applicants even if they are college graduates.
Scenarios like this are common to all fresh graduates who would want to be a part of the corporate world. I myself am a living proof of that.
When I was a fresh graduate I also experienced being rejected by employers on my job hunting. Most of them would say to just notify me via text message or call if ever I will get hired. I am not sure if the recruitment read those resume’s or just throw it directly to the bin. For sure no one did notify me in the next couple of days after the interview. One thing to remember about job applications if you are a fresh graduate is never expect the possibility of being hired instantly.
I remember one employer rejected me because he said I am overqualified for the job. I’m not sure if I would believe him because the position I was applying for was a clerk. I have no idea of what comes into their mind. I was just looking for a job and would accept any type of job since I was a fresh graduate and needed experience. Second thing to remember is that you should be ready for rejections. You need to set your mind thinking that all of the employers will not be impressed by your achievements back in school. They will prefer to hire an experienced one.
So most likely we end up accepting a job offer that is not related to our chosen career after graduation. There is nothing wrong with that because in my own opinion and based on my own experience, it is important to learn how to get along with different people first. Your first job might be a janitorial service even if you graduated civil engineering course. You will gain experience with this, not only in the type of job but the people in that particular company. This will include how you handle a certain task and getting along with superiors and co-workers.
The most important lesson I have learned about applying for a job was becoming choosy and high pride which I regretted. I have missed a lot of great opportunities with that attitude and I was almost going to giving up. But I did not take it personally.
Every great opportunity has its perfect timing. So if you are a student reading this, you will graduate and eventually will apply for a job. Just don’t take things too personal. You will meet a lot of rejections and you have to deal with it.
I am not saying that you should agree with me but I have been there. Success doesn’t have to come first; it is always at the end of every hard work and perseverance.
I clicked the link from the sponsor’s block and I was surprised for it leads me here. I was reading from the about tab and I knew it, it was you! Hehe. I remember reading that 50 pesos prize from a writing contest on read.cash. Anyway, glad I visited this website! Indeed, it was not too late for you and that it may even be the perfect time for you as you create this website. I can see so much room for improvement and count me in on seeing how can this be improved overtime.
T’was nice reading your works here and this specific piece is just very timely for me as a graduating student who’ll soon look for a job.
